MU 236  Chromatic Aural Skills II

Development of listening, singing and improvisation skills in relation to MU 226  materials. Listening skills include recognizing, notating and analyzing longer rhythms, melodies, and harmonic progressions that incorporate chromatic elements including Neapolitan, augmented-sixth, altered and extended tertian chords. Singing skills include recreating at sight chromatic melodies and harmonic progressions in arpeggiated form. Meets three hours per week. Prerequisites: MU 235 . 2 crs.
