AT 514  Art Therapy with Autism Spectrum Disorders

This course focuses on the use of art therapy/counseling with youth that have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Through lectures, case presentation, reading in the literature and hands-on activities, participants will learn about the nature of the disorder, clinical issues specific to this population, and art therapy methods that facilitate communication and the development of the therapeutic alliance. Specific art methods and materials will be discussed in relationship to common presenting problems. This course will be helpful to counselors and art therapists who work with youth with ASD. Pass/No Pass grading not available. Cross-listed as AT 414  for undergraduate credit and as AT 014  for continuing education. 1 cr.
