ENV 319  Sustainable Development

Environmental problems and scarcities have resulted from global patterns of population increase, resource management, energy consumption, and economic growth. Profound social consequences result: ethnic clashes, urban unrest, large-scale migrations, deepened poverty, weakened institutions, and civil violence throughout the world. This course explores sustainable development as an alternative to current development policies. Students will review case studies from both developed and developing countries. MU Core category: Sustainability & Science. 4 crs.
