MU 341  Introduction to Conducting

A study of the principles of instrumental and choral music conducting. Topics include conducting patterns for simple, compound and irregular meters, phrase shaping, tempo shifts, texture and dynamic control. Problems related to range, balance, score reading, and the role of the conductor will be studied. Prerequisites: MU 299.   2 crs.
