MU 226  Chromatic Musical Language II

The last course in a four-course sequence that develops a skill-set for the understanding, creation, and performance of music. Additional chromatic material will be introduced including altered chords, mode mixture and enharmonic respellings. The course also covers twentieth-century materials including modes, serialism and pitch-set theory. The student will incorporate these elements into short original compositions. Meets three hours per week. Prerequisites: MU 225.  2 crs.
