This course surveys major environmental issues that face society. The class examines human population growth, technological development, and ecological processes, then considers issues such as water quality, energy choices, waste management, and air pollution. This course emphasizes the gravity of today's environmental challenges as well as the hope offered by potential solutions leading toward ecological sustainability.
